Default ocz 6400 with am2 5000+ 3.2Ghz need stability help

hey guys. Im having a hard time stabilizing my ram with this OC. orthos(stress some ram) fails every time and I have no idea on the memory timings I should be at. anybody else with my build that could help?

If you know for sure that your cpu is stable, try the stock timming for your ocz.
If platinum rev2, try 4 4 4 15, the first rev, try 5 4 4 15, and try to run memtest to make sure you dont have faulty ram.

well cpu is stable for 20 minutes. alot better than my memory which lasts 4 seconds.

should I be running at a lower cpu multiplier? say 10X or 12X instead of 13X which im at right now?

http://www.ocztechnology.com/product...num_revision_2

thats my part number there p800R21G so I guess revision 2?

What is your ram voltage setting?.... if it's up to specs (1.9-2.1V), set your timings to 4-4-4-15.... and try tRC of 24-26, tRFC of 105 or 127.5 and async latency of 6-9.

Hope that helps you.... let us know!

thanks winginit I will try that. yes the ram v is 2.175 which is still safe as the ocz site says e.v.p is 2.2v and standard would be 2.1
"**OCZ EVP (Extended Voltage Protection) is a feature that allows performance enthusiasts to use a VDIMM of 2.2V ± 5% without invalidating their OCZ Lifetime Warranty.

my bios only goes 0-4 on the trfc not 105 or 127.5. so I only left that on auto for now.

test some ram failed after 2 seconds doh!

from my limited knowledge of overclocking I would say(shooting from the hip) that my memory just cant take this high of a cpu frequency. cpu stress test alone can pass 20 min(I know not long enough) but until I can get at least a 2 min memory test to complete, whats the sense in testing my cpu for 12 hours.

Have you run Memtest on your ram to make sure you don't have a faulty stick?.... that would be the first thing to do to eliminate that possibility.

And I believe that in the BIOS on your board, you would want to set tRFC at 3. Keep us posted.... and good luck!

no i havent run memtest but orthos stress some ram passes when im overclocked to about 2860mhz. its weird because you would think that since my ram is running below 800mhz(on a 3.2Ghz OC) it would be fine. I mean its below stock speed after all. Im really confused as to what I should do to stablize or if that ram just cant work with a cpu of that speed?

i dont think messing with subtimings are going to get me anywhere. unless Im missing some major setting. Ive tried all of your settings.

You should run Memtest for a few passes on your ram to make sure it's good.... then if it is, another possibility would be to add some voltage to your southbridge. It's possible that what appears as memory instability (when OC'ed) is a voltage hungry SB....
