Default 1066mhz ram into 800mhz board.

Hey guys im looking into ordering some new ram its Corsair Dominator 4 gig kit @ 1066mhz http://ple.com.au/snapshot.php?inventory_id=33701 is the ram.

My motherboard is only 800 this is the board http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...ProductID=2287

Now as far as i know the Ram will only run at 800mhz in my motherboard. and i know Windows XP will only pick up 3.25 or 3.5 gigs of the ram or what ever it is. What i want to know is will i be able to clock the ram up further then 800 in my board to some thing closer to the 1066mhz mark or can you not over clock in the under clocked zone that it will be running in?

the rest of my system specs are in my Sig.

thanks.

your ram should default to 800mhz in that board ...i see no reason why that board will not allow you to clk the ram higher ...your board allows for OCing
FSB & voltage adjustments

lol.....im not too hot on AMD setups but im sure there will be some form of ram divider in the advanced options of the bios

also see how tight you can get the timings @ 800mhz you may find that
800mhz with cl4 or maybe with some hefty voltage cl3 .. will be quicker than 1066mhz with cl5 timings

but thats the fun......

enjoy

I see you have a 1gig 8800GT.I think you'll be shocked at how much memory XP will actually see after mapping that card. After mapping my two 512 8800GTs and odds and ends,XP only shows 2.5gig for me.

Just a heads up.

THis may be totally different that your setup, but I've found that running @1066 greatly knocks down the ceiling for the FSB. Then, you don't need to raise it too much that that either.

32bit operating systems can have a maximum of 4Gigs of physical memory, video cards take priority. You can plug in 4 gigs, 1 gig will be automatically subtracted due to the 88GT.
