Default Voltage on Crucial BalistiX (PC 6400)

I have a problem with my Crucial Balistix Tracer (PC 6400)
PN: BL2KIT12864AL804

The specification is 4-4-4-12@2.2V

my Comp setup is:

Windows Vista Buisness 64bit SP1
Asus M2N32-SLi deluxe Wi-Fi
AMD 5000+ Black Edition
Enzotech Extreme-X (Cpu cooler)
1x 150gb Raptor-X
2x BFG 8800 GT OC (SLi)
1x Liteon DVD
Antec True Power Trio 650w power supply
Antec 900 Case

All drivers are up to date

When I set my ram to the proper specifications 4-4-4-12@2.2V I get major instability and BSOD's..... So I wrote to Crucial and they said to try 1 stick at a time....if one didn't work get them RMA.

I did both sticks one at a time....no problems at all, even doing orthos was fine (no crases). Memtest also didn't have any problems.

But when I use both sticks at the proper specifications I get instabilty and BSOD....It won't last 3 min in orthos.

I could use any and all suggestions please.

PS.... at voltage 2.0 volts everything is ok

Have you tried them in the other channel? This might tell you if one of your memory banks is bad. I had it happen with my eVGA 680i A1 board.

Crucial's single largest mistake with their DDR2 Ballistix is the 2.2v stock voltage.

2.2v is too high, and can kill even the double sided D9GMH, unless it's got very good air flow. It's even more lethal to the single sided sticks.

Regardless, for any component, you should always be using the least amount of voltage that is 100% stable. More voltage than needed provides NO benefit; it just wastes energy, makes more heat, and reduces component life span.

Thanks guys,

I decided to say screw 2.2V lol I just put it at 1.9v and all is well....if they die they die. I am not even gonna bother RMA... as long as they are single sided I don't want them. But thank you again for your input
