I have the 2x 1GB OCZ Platinum PC3200, and it's running at DDR450, no issues at all.

Sent in 1gb and got 3gb back, I think you ended up with the better deal.

Only if you are OCing... since it stresses the Northbridge (I am pretty sure that this is the Memory controller, if not correct me please), therefore putting more pressure on it.

With AMDs it's not best to fill all the slots, I know with socket 939 it will stop them from running in dual channel (not familiar with the newer amd platforms), and you may not be able to achieve the previous OC you had due to the stress on the mem controller. I use the 2gb dual channel plats and I'm able to get a 1:1 ratio on my oc with close to stock timings, as you can see by my sig rig I have them running at ddr476 with 2.79 volts (OCZ's warranty is good to 2.8v

ok heres the thing..
__________________they are sending me 2x 1gb (non dual channel) and 2x 512mb (dual channel kit) what i understand is the 2x 512 will not run dual because the other ram is no dual channel. is it better to have: a) 3gb all single channel (what i mentioned) b) 2gb with 4x 512 dual channel? Quote:

The 2x1gb sticks should be exactly the same, so you can run them in dual channel. I bought this kit (back when it was $245
