Default geil cheap ram vs expensive corsair ram

should i get this http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...144-310&depa=1 or
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...145-454&depa=0
is the ram that much faster to warrant the extra cost?
i plan on using it with a dfi lanparty and amd athlon xp 3200 and a geforce 6800 gt . probaly eventually doing some ocing.

Well if you dont plan on overclocking to much id go for the geil plus its good ram but if your gonna start overclocking more and try to push your pc to the limits id go with the corsair.

Thumbs up Geil is good but Corsair is better

On My system (reference below) I am using the geil and I have pushed my amd 3200 from 2.2 to 2.4 without even a hit to temps or errors at all. I know that the mem is going fine as I ran MEMtest for 9 passes and it was still without error. Now if I push any further it will not boot and my Asus board will reset itself. (God I love that board) A friend of mine has almost the same setup but with the XMS memory and he pushes 2.6 on his 3200 so maybe the memory has a part to play. I know my case is cooler than his as my mobo temps are like 26-29 at all times even during a stress test with prime. So I guess his only advantage is the memory. So if you can afforde it go for the more expensive one. also take into consideration the cas latency the XMS is much better than the Geil. Truth be told I would have gotten the XMS but I did not have the money and had to cut cost somewhere and I need the hdd space so the mem took the hit for the team.
Hoe that helps.

Slower memory, or memory that doesn't overclock very well if going to limit your ability to run a 1:1 ratio for the memory and FSB as you overclock, which is better, but like Rain said, if you don't plan on overclocking, the cheaper Value RAM will suffice, memory rated for lower timings would perform better, but I don't think it would be anything noticeable

The Corsair you linked is CAS3 YUCK!!! CAS3 does not have much if any head room over its rated speed for OCing.
CAS2.5 will have more room for OCing.
For about the same price as that Corsair you can get 2X512s Crucial Ballistix DDR400 CAS2.2.2.2 T1 <<<< any RAM with that speeds is the whoop
I got mine direct from Crucial, better price and when you get 2 they are automatically shipped matched.
