I'm gonna slap together a new rig with some parts I have laying around and was looking for some memory recommendations. I "will" be OCing. Current goods are Abit NF7S V2, Athlon XP Mobile 2500+ Barton (IQYHA 0408 RPMW). I want, at minimum, 1 gig (2x512MB sticks) PC3200 (prefer higher) and have a budget of $250.00. Some of the memory I'm curently looking at is

I prefer Crucial Ballistix DDR400 CAS2.2.2.2T1
Very good stuff, but the OCZ DDR400 Platinum REV.2 is also. As are some versions of Corsair. I would NOT recommend the Corsair you ahve linked it's "CAS3" , if you want very good and not the highest end look for CAS2.5 Take note of the 4th # in the rating ie. CAS2.5.2.3.3."6" for example. slow number there. http://www.anandtech.com/memory/showdoc.aspx?i=2145 939 performance http://www.anandtech.com/memory/show...px?i=2226&p=19 BTW, you dont need anything faster than ddr400 if it is the good stuff. rated at CAS2 Most will still scream at DDR500+ The very good CAS2.5 will do fine if you are OCing your CPU and keep the mem below 440Mhz The big + is T1 regardless of the brand. There is a lot of slightly slower cheeper RAM that performs very well too. The question is how fast do you want to spend? ![]()

Again, you can get Crucial Ballistix DDR400 CAS2.2.2.2 T1 for about the same and it is highly rated. Unless ofcourse you want OCZ DDR400 Platnium rev 2
![]() Ballistix $278 for 2x512 dirrect from Crucial! OCZ DDR3200 Platinum rev2 $283 at the egg Personally I'd chose either in a minute over anything else!!!
