Default Newbie Question

This is my second build I am still learning though as always will be with the ever changing computer world!!lol but anyway I think with this setup I may have made a mistake with my memory I purchased, and the next question is reference ganged versus unganged CPU-Z is showing it running unganged but at a lower speed than the memory should be running which I think is because I am running a dual core processor but anyway below is board, memory, cpu any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

MotherBoard: ECS A780GM-A AMD 780G Socket AM2+

CPU: AMD Athlon X2 Dual Core Black Edition Kuma 7750 2.7ghz

Memory: Wintec Ampx PC6400 DDR2 800mhz Dual Channel 4-4-4-12, 4X1024mb sticks

the a780gm-a supports DDR2 1066(am2+ only)/800, and your 7750 is am2+...

by ganged and un* i suppose you mean dual channel and single channel...

what speed is cpu-z reporting with 4 sticks and 2?

This is what I just got off CPU-Z with all 4 sticks in and Thanks for your help!! So I really should have purchased the 1066mhz instead then that is what I was afraid of.

The second image it reads the same for all 4 slots btw

Cpu-Z reads 400mhz (DoubleDataRate makes it 800mhz) so that is correct. Also, since these sticks now run at 4-4-4-12, I'm betting they will run 5-5-5-15 at 1066mhz. You will just have to set the DRAM voltage and timings manually.

So basically I just need to update my voltage to 2.1 and set my timings to 5-5-5-15 for the memory I have now rather than buying the 1066mhz memory sticks and replacing the 800mhz ones. Do I need to adjust my Bank Cycle as well or leave it be. In reference to the ganged or unganged mode it shows it in the DC Mode and unganged I guess I just need to play with that option and see.

One thing you must keep in mind, when using 4 modules you are probably going to need some more NB voltage.

What would you recommend I bump the NB Voltage to, I am assuming that is the North Bridge. Thanks for the help this is getting fun now since I am learning here Great Forum.

Upping it by +0.1 should be ok, depending on if you are running a CPU overclock or not.

I have not messed with the CPU yet was wanting to make sure I did not goof completely on the memory first. I read I should do the CPU first then the memory if I read it right. I really wished I had payed attention on the memory specs on the board and started off with the 1066mhz instead of the 800mhz but oh well I can play with the 800mhz for now then upgrade later. Thanks Very Much!!

When you are going to overclock the CPU, the memory speed will go up as well. But you should try if it can run 1066mhz at 5-5-5-15.
