Depending on the kind of Kingston ram you have, and the motherboard chipset, you may experience dificulties running 1066 anyway.
Fill out your system specs, I don't even know if you are running AMD or Intel!

so right now.. Phenom 9950BE K9a2 Platinum V1 (790FX + SB600) (default BIOS = scared and dont know how to flash to upgrade) 4870 512mb 650watts PSU i use the kingston ddr2 1066Mhz that has a 2.0 V written on it on the stick.. also on the receipt, a CL7 was wriiten somewhere there i checked kingstons website but couldnt find my exact memory set (2x2 KHXA8500AD2K/4GR (if i remember correctly).. and that was not on their webiste.. checked the authenticity of my RAM through Kingstons Verification site and found that my memory sticks are genuine.. its finally running now at the specified speed and even in DUAL channel (it was running @ single channel for 7 months until someone taught me how fix the arrangement of the sticks in the mobo 2 days ago) ![]() the "default" was 800Mhz @ 6-6-6-18-2T.. would it be better for me to go back to this specs?

Just a little FYI, there are no 2Gb sticks that are D9's. They only made 1Gb modules.

![]() Looks like you have a very basic kit of RAM. I would try updating your BIOS, as AM2/AM2+ motherboards have generally released bios updates that address 1066 stability concerns. I would also note that AMD platforms generally respond better performance wise to tighter timings as opposed to faster memory clock

I would research how to update the BIOS from MSI website. I know you said you tried their installer, have you tried downloading the LATEST bios updater from the MSI website and use it. If that is what you have tried, try this website. It has plenty of tips. I have always used the ASUS EZ Flash so I am fairly noobish when it comes to updating the BIOS manually as well!

Usually you can find the BIOS file in ISO form, then burn it to a disk and boot from that. In the olden days you did this with a floppy drive, now you can use a USB if your board supports it, or a cd if it doesn't.
Just look around for the ISO file of the updated BIOS, and you should be able to boot from it (after you boot, you often have to hit a certain key for it to update the BIOS... mine is F10... just look it up in your manual). Good luck
