I've just built a new PC with a Gigabyte 780G-UD3H motherboard and Ph.II 720BE CPU and I'm having trouble setting my Kingston Hyper-X DDR2 1066 (specced as 5-5-5-15 @ 2.2v) to actually run at 1066. I've flashed the motherboard with the latest F2 BIOS. It's in Dual channel unganged mode if that makes any difference.
__________________I've upped the voltage by 0.4v to 2.2v and I can change the settings to 5-5-5-15-1, but the memory clock is on auto and shows x4 - 800mhz. POST and CPU-Z both show it's at 800mhz/400mhz as well. If I change that to x5.33 - 1066mhz, then when I check on the settings it's changed them to 5-7-7-27-1 and the TwTR Command Delay has changed from 3T to 7T. There's some other settings that I've got no idea whether I should be adjusting, so I've not touched them. These don't appear to change. Trfc0 for DIMM1 - 75ns Trfc2 for DIMM2 - 75ns Trfc1 for DIMM3 - 127.5ns Trfc3 for DIMM4 - 127.5ns Write Recovery - 6T Precharge Time - 3T Row Cycle Time - 24T RAS to RAS Delay - 3T

most boards you have to OC to 1066 in order to display 1066 cpuz should show 533mhz once you do so. 533 x2 = 1066 (ddr2<==) i thought the same thing when i got my 1066 ram it was displaying 800mhz you have to set it to 1066 into the bios you cant use auto most of the time same with pc9600 you have to oc the ram to get it to run 1200

I think I've already been trying that, by setting the memory clock to x5.33 instead of x4, which changes it to show 1066 instead of 800 in the BIOS, but as I say, that causes the timings to automatically change to 5-7-7-27.

Can't you change those timings manually?

You will have to change the latency to 6 or 7. I have simmilar ram from kingston it was rated at 5 cas 1066 but to get it to run as 1066 i have to set the cas to 7. I'll never buy kingston again after this set. You can manualy change all the other timings lower but your CaS will have to be set pretty high to run at 1066.
edit also make sure your pushing at least 2.1 volts to it 2.2 even.

If I change the timings from the automatic settings it chooses (5-7-7-24-1-4) when I change the memory clock to x5.33 - 1066Mhz, then it POSTs at 800Mhz and when I go into the BIOS, it's gone back to x4 - 800Mhz and the timings have reset to Auto.

OK, so the best I can do is run this RAM at 5-7-7-24 at default voltage (1.96v). Would it make much difference if I got some RAM that actually runs at 5-5-5-15 or isn't it worth worrying about?
