Default 2 x 1gb + 2 x 2gb vs 4 x 1gb

What would give me the best performance? 2 x 1gb and 2 x 2gb chips, or 4 x 1gb chips? I want to upgrade RAM< but don't know it I should go with 2 x 1gb or 2 x 2gb for the upgrade, also would 4 x 2gb give better performance than 4 x 1gb? Running my RAM at 930mHz (800mHz overclocked to that)

I'd rather have four sticks of matched RAM over four sticks of mixed RAM.

You're also looking at possible compatibility issues with the 2x 1GB + 2x 2GB.

2x2GB, IMO. Leaves expansion space, dual channel.

4x1 served me much better than 2x2+2x1. The extra 2Gb won't make much difference and isn't worth the limit in your overclock.

2x2GB is better if you have a good set. The IC's on 1GB sticks can be a bit better depending on what set you have. But indeed, 4 sticks isn't good to have when overclocking.

4x1GB is fine but some motherboards don't like having all ram slots filled and will not boot or sometimes will run fine but limit overclocking.
