I have a Kingston HyperX memory
__________________Here is what the box says: KHX8500AD2K2/4GR 4GB Memory Kit 4GB PC2-8500 CL7 240-Pin DIMM Kit (2 pcs.) Assembled in China 08 1814 bought in from fry's electronics: it says also from the Fry's sticker: 4GB PC8500 Dual Hyper X (2x2 GB) Speed 1066Mhz lifetime warranty $ 129.99 I cant seem to find my memory (KHX8500AD2K2/4GR) in kingston's website. I cant also find out if my memory sticks are Single Channel or Dual Channel The closest i could find were: for single channel: KHX8500D2/2G 2GB DDR2 1066MHz Non-ECC CL5 5-5-5-15 2.25V *(i probably have 2 pcs. of these) for dual channel: KHX8500D2K2/4G 4GB DDR2 1066MHz Non-ECC CL5 (kit of 2 – 2GB) 5-5-5-15 2.2V *(or i probably have 1 set of this) im guessing that what i have is the dual channel kits but i cant be sure since it is said in the box that i have purchased that the kit is named KHX8500AD2K2/4GR not KHX8500D2K2/4G. The main problem i am having is that i can't seem to run these memories to their specified speed of 1066Mhz. It is downclocked to 800Mhz only. I have tried going to the BIOS>Cell Menu>?????????????????????? [to be edited] but when i save that setting i could not boot to windows anymore. So, i had to bring it back the ratio to 1:2 People have suggested around the net for me to adjust the voltages of the memory but i am not able to find the adjustable settings for it. all i have in my BIOS is a "read only" information. Here is what the K9a2 Platinum (v1) manual says as well (from BIOS>Cell Menu> ): "CPU Voltage / Momory Voltage / NB Voltage / Hypertransport Voltage These items dispaly the power status of CPU, Memory, FSB and chipset. Read-only." where am i supposed to change the voltage settings then? i read somewhere that i should calculate something like this and this would give me info why my memory is downclocked to 800 Mhz. Given: CPU 2600Mhz Memory 533 (1066 effective) Solution: 2600/533 = 4.88~ then choose from either 4 or 5 since i need a whole number. They say that i should choose 5. 2600/5 = 520 (x2 = 1040Mhz) I wish i was even near 1000Mhz! in CPU-Z, here's my memory information: ![]() As for changing the timings i have yet to look again at the BIOS if it would let me even change the latencies or timings as of now the latencies and timings are set to auto as well at the voltage. will be updating in a few mins I am really sorry if i am posting this as "not one of those threads again".. but i cant really find the answers.. the closest was with this thread but the opener was shunned and said to read another posted topic that doesnt really seem to give good answers for the thread starter "lexie" http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=128078.0 well, this person was even lucky to run at 1066Mhz and was able to test it. System Information: Phenom 9950BE K9a2 Platinum V1 (790FX + SB600) 4870 512mb 650 watts Windows Vista ultimate 64bit

Well, firstly you have a dual channel kit. Using two sticks of matching memory together is a dual channel. Using two sticks of mismatched memory together at the same speed and timings is still a dual channel
. The voltage option can usually be found under the power management tab, or under advanced, or something. Look in your bios and you will find it. You want to adjust your memory/Dimm (whatever it is listed as) to about 2.0-2.2v (whatever it is rated for).

I have found these out a while ago:
__________________that i can manipulate the voltages for the memory in BIOS>Cell Menu>"Memory Voltage" then i need to use the + and - on the number pad! it was really so dumb of me.. it was written below the screen! so i did set the memory voltages to 2.20 Volts i also have found these things out in BIOS>Cell Menu>Advance DRAM Configuration: DRAM Timing Mode (set to) [Auto] Bank Interleaving [Auto] Software Memory Hole [Enabled] DCT Unganged Mode [Enabled] so i pressed enter in DRAM Timing Mode and here were the options: Auto DCT 0 DCT 1 Both I am guessing that the DCT 0 and 1 are some kind of profile that i have to set.. so following my guess i did the ff: changed the ff on DCT 0: CL to 5 tRCD to 5 tRCP to 5 tRAS to 15 i cannot fin the CMD Rate setting! *according to the http://www.kingston.com/hyperx/produ...ddr2.asp#1066d and i am looking at KHX8500D2K2/4G still not my KHX8500AD2K2/4GR, and its said latency timings of 5-5-5-15- except the last, 1 (w/c is the CMD Rate) but i still cant reach Windows!

You need to set the timings to a CAS 7, which is what they are rated for.
EDIT: There should be an "optimal performance mode" under you memory settings. Clicking enabled on that will set the memory timings to SPD (or what they are rated for).

i was looking at these sites before i tried to change the settings in BIOS:
__________________http://www.kingston.com/hyperx/produ...ddr2.asp#1066d and this http://www.valueram.com/datasheets/KHX8500D2K2_4G.pdf *sigh* here's the last thing i did. BIOS>Cell Menu: FSB/Memory Ratio from [1:2] to [1:2.66] the Adjusted DDR Memory Frequency changed from [800] to [1066] then the next thing i did was to head to the "Memory Voltage" and from [Auto] to [2.20] *2.20 Volts had e red highlight in it and is said that it is not a recommended setting then i went to Advance DRAM Configuration>DRAM Timing Mode from [Auto] to DCT 0 i set the DCT 0 to the ff configuration: CAS Latency (CL) = 5 CLK TRCD = 5 CLK TRP = 5 CLK tRTP = [Auto] TRAS = 15 CLK TRC = [Auto] tWR = [Auto] TRRD = [Auto] tWTR = [Auto] tRFC0 = [Auto] tRFC1 = [Auto] tRFC2 = [Auto] tRFC3 = [Auto] *anyway i had the ff options for CAS Latency: Auto 3 CLK 4 CLK 5 CLK 6 CLK 7 CLK DH_Only (what is this?) then i saved it and then it rebooted then i get this msg: CMOS Checksum Bad Press F1 to Run Setup Press F2 to load default values

You set the timings to a CAS 5, the first few timings need to be set to 7-7-7-21. That is what the DCT0 and DCT1 means. Just set them to match, leave the rest to auto.

from the options:
__________________Auto DCT 0 DCT 1 Both i have to configure both DCT0 and DCT1 and set them to the same configuration? u mentioned 7-7-7-21 timings.. how about the ?T should i set it to 1T or 2T? thanks i will try again right now
