Question RAM questions

What are timings? I think mine are 9-9-9-24. I have 1333 DDR3. Also, how might one go about overclocking RAM?

The brand of my RAM is PNY. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820178238

The timings are latencies, the lower they are the faster the ram operates. 9-9-9-24 indicates that it must be a budget type of ram, considering the speed is also 1333mhz (which is low). That means the set probably doesn't overclock very well.

Not really my timmings are at 9-9-9-24 and my ram is top of the line ram, but also my ram runs at 2000Mhz

Use the post above^^ and if you OC you may be able to get 1500-1600.

Also what brand are they?

Most all high end DDR3 is based off 1066 CL7 or 1333 CL9 ICs.

The ram in my sig will do DDR-1700+ with less than 1.55v. It cost me $29.10.

Uhm yeah, at 2000mhz

And I agree the OP needs to post the brand and type before any further speculation.

Yeah but with CL9? To me the average set of DDR3 does 7-7-7-20 at 1600mhz. I think that is the sweet spot because those sets aren't too expensive.

To bad he isnt even on

But if its like Corsair, OCZ, G.Skill ect he can either...
Get 1600Mhz on the stock timmings
Or tighten the timmings to 7-7-7-20 or so.
