Default need help running my ram at 1066

i have this RAM, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231166

from what i heard this is a nice pair of sticks,

i put them into my new built and by default it was set to 800 so i changed that to 1066 and let vista install itself, i come back a while later and see a BSOD, so changed it back to 800 and installed windows

after it installed without problems i changed it back to 1066, put the timings at 5-5-5-15 and voltage at 2.1

i turned on orthos and did a mem test, failed after 2 seconds

i set it back to 800 and orthos ran for a while without errors,

how can i get it to run at 1066 stable??

You're in the tested range for voltage, doesn't sound like you did anything wrong.

Try backing off the voltage a bit and raise your 15 to 18 and see if that helps.

if that works, then lower it to 15 again and say waddup!

Try 2.05, 2.0 - beyond that you can start wondering if they might be garbage..

But... that ram does seem very Intel chipset based - and you're rocking ATI/AMD but have NVidia card....sometimes those things do matter if they designed that particular ram for Intel boards

What I'm saying is, depending where you are OC -wise - I found mine finnicky at 1066. Loaded at 8 GB's now at 800 it's fine....

I think the 1066 was garbage from the beginning considering it could never go more than 1 channel?? What? or the AM3 boards only running 1 of DDR3? Screw that - I want all the same...

Do it! Honestly, buying 1066 RAM for AMD systems is something I will never do anyway. AMD platforms will always respond better in benchmarks/performance to tighter (lower) timings, rather than higher memory frequency.

Intel is the other way around.

For that reason, for DDR2 on AMD systems I will always buy 800 and get a set with really tight timings (4-4-4-12).

and Gill, check out the thread I just bumped
