Default DDR3 for Phenom II?

Guys I need help in choosing DDR3.
The motherboard would be Biostar TA790GX A3+ and the CPU would be Phenom II X4 955 BE.
Currently, I got 2 choice.
PATRIOT Blade PDC3 2G 1333 LLK (1333MHz)
GSKILL F3-12800CL8D-2GBTD (1600MHz)

The Biostar website mentioned that the motherboard support DDR3 1333/ DDR3 1600 OC.
Is this means the memory will running default at 1333MHz although the stock speed of the memory is 1600MHz?

That G-Skill set is better, tighter timings and higher speed. Yes it will default to 1333, but once you overclock the ram will go up in frequency also.

from what i know of with phenom II chips the tighter the timings the better so i would go for the ram capable of tighter timings.

Yeah, I was thinking the G.Skill is better and the price gap is just $5.
So, there wouldn't be any problem right?
I am just afraid if the memory not detected or any bad things happen.
By the way, sorry if this is out of topic but what's the maximum overclock for Phenom II X4 955 without increasing the voltage?

You will get better results with tight timings @ 1333 on an AMD system, you must throw in the north bridge equation when you OC an AMD chip. I would get the Gskill also

No because all memory sets have an SPD table, which also includes profiles to run at lower speeds by default.

If it is any good indication, I got my Phenom II X4 940 to 3.4Ghz without changing the voltage.

Okay, that's sounds like a good news!
I guess most Phenom II stuck @ 3.4GHz without extra voltage. LOL
That's just the same with most Phenom II X3 720.
So I'd say Phenom II X4 955 won't go higher than 3.4GHz without additional voltage.

Thank you guys!

Guys, I'm having problem with my ram timings.
Cant seem to lower the cas latency with this modded bios.. It just stocks to cl9, if i put it as cl8 my system wont boot, adjusting the trcd and trp is ok, but with the cas latency it wont boot at all, bad oc.

Gskill Tridet 2x2 ddr3 1333
timings now is set to 9-8-8-24

Make sure you are setting the voltage properly. Also IIRC Biostar boards require the HT Link to be set at 1600mhz (200 x 8 HT Multiplier) for them to properly unlock cores or something.
