and my memory is reading it @ 800mhz why?

All rams are defaulted to 800mhz, go into the bios and change the FSB/RAM ratio so it'll run at your desired speed.

With Nforce boards the EPP is programmed to boot at the default setting. you need to set the memory to 1066 manually and then set your voltages to around 2.0 or 2.1. its made so the ram will boot in any board right off.
show: nforce boards dont always use ratios. they can be unlinked and set to the users desire. ( to reduce FSB holes and improve the ocing range.)

It highly depends on the board, not the memory.

It's the mobo not the RAM so no unless you get a new mobo that is 1066 default. Besides aslong as you only mess with that setting and nothing else (since I take it you don't know much about the BIOS settings etc.) you should not screw your computer over.
