So I was just got to thinking today, because since I got my ram, it has been running below stock settings because someone told me it would be better to have tighter timing then the extra few hundred megahertz...
I know that's wrong lol... So what is better... 1333Mhz at 7-7-7-20 times or 1600Mhz at 9-9-9-24 times. Or could you recommend a better set all together? ![]() Here is what I am using BTW.. G.SKILL 4GB DDR3 1600

try both and benchmark them. my guess is for the tighter timings, but i'm not sure.

Ok hope this helps you out.
When I got my Perfect Storm's I had them OCed to 2133Mhz at 9-9-9-24 timmings. Testes it using almost every bench I could think of. Then switched it up to 2000Mhz at 8-8-8-21 timmings. Turns out the tighter timmings got a better score in all the benches. Here is the ram I got. Im trying to get these bad boys right now to 7-8-7-20. So from my experance I say the 1333Mhz at 7-7-7-20 will do better.

Download everest and run it's bandwidth test, that will show you which setting is best

The key to am3 performance doesn't lie within memory frequency or timings. It's all about NorthBridge Frequency. Get the 1333mhz 7-7-7 kit and a NB of around 2600-2800 and you will be golden. Most Phenom II IMCs struggle with 1600mhz memory anyway, so it is just a big hassle to try to tweak a 1600mhz kit anyway.

Timings are better. Iv tried my ram at 1600 9-9-9-28 as well as 1333 7-7-7-24 and the 1333 7-7-7-24 is faster and benchmarks better. Go with the tighter timings and slower speed.

CPU speed > NB speed >>>>>> RAM timings > RAM speed
RAM is not that important on AMD platforms. Do whatever gives you the highest CPU frequency; if that means running the RAM at below stock speeds then so be it.

My guess is that you'll notice no difference either way. I'd also guess that 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 will run slightly quicker than 7-7-7-20. Keep the memory, you're fine either way.
