Default Time for another memory upgrade

Alright my last selection of memory was cheap and crappy quality. So now I'm looking to buy some nice overclocking ram. I currently have an am2 dual core but I want to upgrade to a phenom quad soon.

I'm going to get a 2x2gb set of either ddr2 800 or ddr2 1066.

Would ddr2 800 memory bottleneck a phenom quad core?

My budget for this memory is $80.

I've always had a good experience when using g.skill memory, but what other brands are worth looking at?

For $80 you can get some awesome DDR2 memory.

My 4 gigs DDR-800 below cost <$50 after rebates almost a year ago. I've had great experience with both my Corsairs and OCZs, but I always check the egg for reviews. ALl companies have ups and downs.

And I can't directly comment on AMD, and someone is welcome to correct me, but earlier today I read even the new Core i7 aren't significantly bottlenecked by fast DDR2 ram (versus DDR3)

Hmm nice OC on those corsairs, I will probably buy ddr2 800 if bottlenecking isn't the problem.

Yeah man I've been happy with my two $25 sets But it depends a lot on which chips they happen to be using at the time, and how handy your motherboard is.

And if anyone with AMD can verify that the bottleneck ain't an issue then I'd go for it.

I removed all the ones with slower timings, but boy I don't understand some of the prices :/

I'd go with the Crucial Ballistix Tracers, they have the fastest timings and decent price for DDR2-800.

Go for the G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066. They got low CL of 5, AND they're 1066, so you have less to OC for same performance.. (and they're cheaper, only $65) Plus you've have good experience with GSkill

but I'm off to bed now, good luck
