Default periodic system instabilities with phantom memory errors

My computer seems to become unstable after a few days or so. I would get random program crashing and the occasional BSOD. Thinking its a memory issue, I ran memtest86.... So, here are the results.... If I wait until my system becomes unstable, reboot and run memtest86, I get tons of errors.... However, if I power off the computer for 5-10 seconds, I get no errors. I've let memtest86 run for 36+ hrs without errors with all sticks of memory in, and I've tested each individual stick at 8+ hrs without errors. But sure enough, wait a few days to a week.... and my system will become unstable again, and only at that point memtest errors. Truth be told, I could just power cycle my computer for 10s ever day and not have to worry about an unstable system.... but I'd rather just find the error and have it fixed!

So, things I've done over the past two Months to try and solve this:
Changed the memory configuration from the default timings and voltages to the manufactures recommended settings (5-5-5-15 & 2.1 V).
Tried to use the memory at a slower speed (rather than 1066)
Running with only 2 of the 4 sticks, and rotating sticks of memory after crashes
rotating the sticks of memory into different memory slots

despite trying these things, my system becomes unstable somewhere between 2 days and a week. So, I'm leaning towards "not a memory issue", but really don't know how to test the cpu or mem-cpu controller. I've recently dl'd prime85, and am running an In-place large FFT's test atm.

My question is, how can I determine whether its a CPU issue, or a mobo issue? And what recommendations do you have to further test my computer? Thank you for your help.

Note: Im not oc'ing my system.
Also note: I fear to run the Small FFT's test for extended times, as after 40min of running it slowly pushed my cpu temp to the 70-71 threshold. The In-place FFT's pushes it to only 67-68, which is within spec for a phenom II).

Default

67-88c and even 70-71c under full load
Regardless of what is considered a safe max temp....
You'd be hard pressed to find anyone in here who accepts more than a mid 50c full load temp acceptable.

Max temp 62c according to AMD
http://products.amd.com/en-us/Deskto...&f11=&f12=True

So, IMHO, you have a processor temp issue.

But, you may also want to test each RAM module separately to assure you don't have issues with one of the modules.
