Question DDR2 to DDR3

Just wondering, I have DDR2 1066 at the moment. Would I get much benefit from switching up to say DDR3 1333 or better?

I game sometimes, convert video, create graphics, general browsing, autocad.

Also would be be better for OCing Thing?

It is a simple Bios upgrade from P1.50 to P1.60 to run the DDR3 ram.

You can't just flash a bios to add ddr3 support...

And no, there is no real world performance between ddr2 1066mhz 5-5-5-15 and 1600mhz 7-7-7-24 or whatever. Only a few points in benchmarks and 0.2 fps in games.

Not much of a difference at all. In games, you're likely to notice a difference within the margin of error. In other things like unzipping files and encoding, as well as video editing and installations, you might notice a bit of a difference.

Not enough to justify buying new sticks for imo

If you look at the board, the P1.60 bios upgrade does add ddr3 support.

I don't think you can stick a DDR3 into a DDR2 slot mobo.

Yup they are different. Unless your mobo supports both DDR2 and DDR3, and has different slots for it.
