It's been a very long while since I've posted here or since I have poked around with the hardware on my computer that hasnt been upgraded in years. It's an Athlon 64 3200+ 2.2ghz, Gigabyte K8NS Pro, and 2 sticks of DDR400 512mb OCZ ram, which I recently added a 1gb stick of Kingston HyperX to.
__________________I used to understand this all a lot better, but It's been such a long time I think I need to start over from scratch. In the BIOS, the ram is set to ratio automatically. The CPU clock is 200, multiplier 11 and It says Current DDR Speed 200 and DDR Speed 200 (I don't know what the difference is there)... So to my understanding the ram clock in sync with the CPU bus is 200mhz * 2 (DDR) gives us 400mhz...? The ratio shown in the bios however, is set to 2:1. I can change it, 2:1.3/1.5/1.66... up to 2:2, which is unstable and will not boot... If I just run at the default 2:1 and leave everything be, I am just not understanding what I am seeing in CPUZ. The memory page of CPUZ states the DRAM Frequency is 100mhz... So I am missing the math there. The FSB RAM ratio right below that states CPU/22, not sure if that is supposed to display the same as 2:1 in the bios.Under the SPD tab, I can see the first OCZ stick and it says 200mhz in the timings table, same for the second. When I check the Kingston stick, there are two columns JEDEC 1 & 2, the first one saying 166mhz and the second 200mhz... Is the Kingston running at 333mhz? If so are the two other sticks running in sync with that? Where does the 100mhz DRAM frequency come from and how does this all fit into the ratio?

Some developments... When I remove the Kingston stick and check the speed in the bios of the two OCZ sticks, they come up as 333mhz, 2:1.66 by default. I am able to change the ratio to 2:2 and they show up as 400mhz as well as CPUZ showing 200mhz in the timings table as in the picture...
I don't ever remember having to adjust the ratio by default years ago when I was just using the OCZ memory... regardless I have tried booting with just the kingston stick as well. I am able to change the ratio to 2:2 and achieve a DRAM frequency of 200mhz as well as showing 400mhz in the bios. When I have both brands in together though... that's where I am starting to think the problem lies. Is it possible the small differences in the timings or something else between two different brands prevents them from running in sync with my bus? It's like it down clocks them all when run together so my memory is running at half speed. Right now I have the ratio set to 2:1.66, bios and cpuz see all three sticks as 333mhz and it's stable... any closer ratio and the system wont boot. Maybe that's as good as it's going to get or I need to find a matching stick of OCZ ram if I want everything in sync and up to speed

Wow it's been so long since I've been on that platform. The more sticks of memory you use the more it stresses the IMC on the CPU. 3 banks at their rated timings probably isn't going to happen. It also doesn't help your OCZ sticks have tighter timings. Try adding a little more CPU voltage and maybe NB/CPU-NB voltage if you even have the option? Also a tad more DRAM voltage. I know the dividers are weird, just figure out how to set the divider properly in the bios to get it to run at 200mhz (really 400 because of DDR double data rate.) And as far as loosening the timings goes, maybe try 3-4-4-8 ish? I don't know you will have to tweak them a little bit.

the 939 cpu's dont like more than 2 stick of ram and become unstable at 400mhz
to keep the 400mhz you have to change the command rate to 2T and to run your kingston to 400mhz its needs cas 3 not 2.5 also if you run 3 sticks of ddr you will lose duel channel bandwith it would be better to get another 1gb stick im currently running the gskill zx 1gb and im saving up for another its good ram it only needs 2.6V to do 2-3-2-5 1T timings i have mine setup to 520mhz 2.5-3-3-9 1T 2.9V

If the 939's don't like more than two sticks then I must be really out of luck because I actually have a 754 (this computer is ancient). I've been messing with it all day and have had zero luck. I used to overclock without hassle after I built it too and I have been unable to achieve anything over a 50mhz bump even keeping the ram under 400mhz and loose timings (even on just the kingston or OCZ seperate), Vista BSOD's on every boot. I'm starting to think of getting one more stick of identical kingston and running those two, taking out the OCZ and calling it good. Thanks for the tips though.

o man 754 dont like 3 stick at all lol it will not run with 3 sticks
your lucky to boot if your intent on overclocking it then get some gskill ZX 1gbx2 for $60 i havbe mine running at 520mhz

CPU-z says my ram is underclocked too, I think it's just an issue with the program?
