What would you all consider to be tight timings for DDR3 with a 955BE?
If I remember right mine is currently running 8-8-8-20 and it is what i suspect is holding back my OC.

you should def loosen the timings if it is holding you back. 9-9-9-24 is what is considered normal i think. just remember that if you can get your OC higher you will not really notice the slower ram. :-)

how likely is it that that tight of timings is what is holding it back? because when i cross 3857 it boots to a black screen only.

you could just loosen them and see if it boots?

I would shoot for a 1T command rate first, then try to tighten up the rest.

Tight timings at 1600mhz would be something like 6-6-6-18. But of course, not every set can handle that.
For example, this set: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820226050

I thought I had changed that in my sigrig, the RAM is actually 1333 not 1600. If 6-6-6-18 is tight for 1600, is it safe to assume mine are loose for 1333?

not gonna lie, the RAM is loose because it kept me in my budget, had I known better I probably would have gotten better ram, but its too late now. Dont know much about RAM timings but im going to assume its easier ot boot an OC if its loose?

However, keeping the memory speed and timings close to stock would rule out the memory when overclocking.
