Default Noob question/ adding ram

Ok guys, I pre-ordered Windows 7 64-bit to utilize all my ram goodness. Right now I'm running xp-32 bit with 2x1gb of ram. My ram is overclocked a little running around ddr2-860. When I install another 2x1gb will I have to revert it back to stock settings, or will the new sticks automatically run at ddr2-860?

If they are the same ram then they *should* run at DDR2 860. (You may need to do some testing because not all rams will run at the same speeds)

Tricky question. I'm not sure if that board will overclock the memory at all with 4 modules. Honestly, you would be better of getting a 2x2GB set.

Yes, I bought the same identical pair. Crazy how it went down 1/2 in price from when I bought it last time I just wasn't sure if I had to set my ram speeds at stock, install new ram, then OC with all 4 in there... or if I could just stick the new sticks in and run at the ~rated speed of the other sticks (ddr2 860)

I'm no expert with RAM and stuff but I would suggest you re-overclock while all the RAM sticks are in and check for stability. Maybe the new RAM sticks might be a different batch that have different standards or something?

I might be completely wrong, so...

Well my board is a good overclocker, not so much for my processor. It could be possible though since the board is a little dated. Maybe I'll go check in the m2n-sli club. Thanks for the heads up though, it would be a waste if my board couldn't 4x1gb

This is also true, but If the second batch can't even go up to ddr2 860 I'm throwing it out
