Default SOLVED: 3.25Gb in 64-bit Windows?!

Free Image Hosting by ImageBam.com

Why does Windows only able to use 3.25Gb?! I'm using 64-bit windows. I just noticed this today when 3Dmark 06 said I only had 3.25Gb. Anyone know what I can do to remedy this?

Try updating the BIOS on your motherboard. Some other people online seemed to have the same problem and some of them were fixed by doing so.

Also be sure to enable memory remapping in the advanced tab or memory area in the BIOS.

It's an issue with Windows 7.

Click for some help.

It seems Windows 7 RC/Beta is handling memory (physical) in a way that's different than in Vista or even XP. The tech helpers mention that you should enable "dynamic memory remapping" and "virtualization" in Windows 7. Otherwise, the memory issue you describe is known to MS and it's up to them to fix it.

There's a guess further down the thread that says one user's BIOS may be at fault in addressing what's actually available. Bunch of other guesses and such as well.

I'm assuming you have newer hardware so a chipset limitation won't play into this scenario (like if you have the 945 chipset). If you do have the 945 chipset, no other solution than a new motherboard AFAIK.

It's not 06, I just first noticed it in 06.

Updated to most recent a month ago, I will look for the memory remapping again but I couldn't find it the first time.

I have AMD first of all, this is the amd memory section after all.../sarcasm
It's not a chipset limitation, I have 770 ( basically 790 with fewer pci-e lanes) I'll look for memory remapping and virtualization and get back to you guys.

Sorry for double post but Negative on everything. Memory remapping, disabled or enabled, virtualization, enabled or disabled, latest BIOS, everything stated in this thread, and every combination.
