I had once read that AMD quads like a "full bank" of ram, ie. 1x1x1x1=4gig. Is there any truth to this. I am looking for 4gig of 1333 DDR3 ram and there is way to much to choose from. I understand Crucial is the best, but what are some other contenders. This will be a gaming/media rig.

From my understanding 2x2gb is better for overclocking vs 1x4. Don't quote me on this though. I've never heard of the performance gain being overly significant either way. Personally, I say you get a 2x2gb kit so you have room for a potential upgrade.

G.Skill is a great option actually.

False statement. AMD does not recommend filling up all ram slots. They don't often work correctly. Usually it will work if you add more volts than normally overclocking with only 2 banks filled. If you look at benching setups they are usually only using one stick so that it isn't IMC or RAM problem holding back the cpu overclock.
