Default Corsair Dominator "BEMP" worth it?

I'm looking for a good 2x2GB set of RAM to match up with an MSI 790FX-GD70 for my DDR3 upgrade soon. So I came across a Corsair Dominator kit paticularly aimed at AMD setups claiming its "Black Edition Memory Profile (BEMP) Supported".

What does this mean exactly? are there any benefits of BEMP or is it just some sales pitch? and lastly, is it really worth it for AMD users to pay $10 more then Intel users for Corsairs ram?

Thanks in advance.

haha funny I asked the same exact question :P, personally I love the way dominators look and stuff and was ganna honestly buy a pair but the price was to high compared to like what I have in my signature rig. From my knowledge of what others have told me and I hope I get this right: BEMP = AMD's Black Edition Memory Profiles and what that does is when you stick your sticks of ram in which would be the dom' gts it finds the best suitable timing profiles for your ram so you don't have to go into bios and do it yourself I also heard its easier to overclock but im not sure. I found that doing it in the BIOS for the GD70 is hard at all and works pretty well the mushkins I got in their now are well here check them out for yourself:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-076-_-Product

and I know that the timings a bit better with these sticks of ram I got them to go to 7-7-7-18 at 1.65 as stated on the site and the back of these sticks quiet easily for doing my first time, but really its your choice if you got the money and you dont wanna mess around with timings and the bios you could go with it or if your into saving same cash and getting some good timings lookin into other brands but I would recommend what I picked out. I must say though alot of people hate the dominators fan it comes with but thats one of the reasons I wanted them LMAO :P. Well I hope I help in some way!

BEMP is just a gimick. like what freezen said it will find the timings for your ram off a profile from the internet.

it also allows you to tweak the ram more in amd over drive.

HOWEVER, if you know how to overclock you can already tweak your ram in the BIOS, and you shouldn't be using AOD to OC anything anyway!

save your money and get some normal ram and tweak it yourself (unless you really really dont want to tweak it then get it lol...)

It's pure marketing. Don't buy into it.

68 bucks.

AMD prefers lower timings, so this kit will do you better i reckon

as everyone else said above me

Its a gimick for people to spend more money when they don't need too. It's like the SLI ready memory, which makes no damn sense and dosen't offer any more performance than regular memory

Thanks for all the input guys, I really appreciate it. It is definitely an overpriced product but I thought it was worth looking into considering Corsairs good reputation and how popular the Dominator line is.

But anyway you guys are right and I'm steering clear of this RAM despite how attractve it looks, and I prefer to set the timings on my own to help me get some experiance. I still have some time to look into other RAM before I actually make a purchase so feel free recommend me some more options. Thanks again.

Old thread, but I didn't really wanna create a new one, as my question is related:

Which RAM would be the best choice, here?

Corsair Dominator (BEMP) ($150)

Corsair Dominator (XMP) ($130; $70 w/ combo discount)

GSkill Trident ($105)

These are all DDR3-1600 kits with CL8. I have heard that the Corsairs are really good quality, but then the GSkill Trident line has gotten good reviews.

So, the BEMP means nothing, since I can set that memory via BIOS, correct? If so, then that is definitely the way to go.

PS- Someone mentioned the GSkill Ripjaws; how do those compare to the Tridents? The Ripjaws do have 1600 with CL7...
