Ok, noob question, my ddr3 2000 ripjaws say they are running at 666mhz in cpuz. Shouldnt they be a higher clock than that?

DEVIL RAM! QUICK PURGE IT!!!!
In all seriousness, yes. But you might have to multiply 666 by 3 because it's DDR3 so 666x3= 1998MHz which sounds about right.

666MHz needs to be doubled for the DDR speed, so they're actually doing 1332MHz. They've defaulted to the 1333MHz JEDEC DDR3 standard. If you want them faster, you're going to need to tweak them in the BIOS.

DDR = double data rate. 666x2 is DDR3-1333 which is stock. You need to change it manually to 1000 in BIOS.

From product info page, it looks like that RAM is quite light on the volts. Will work with 1.65v, apparently. Should be a simple case of changing the Vdimm and the FSB/DRAM ratio.

It should be that simple.
Whether it is or not I would think depends on how the Phenom II's IMC takes DDR3-2000...

The Phenom II processors, like the Phenoms and the Athlon64's before it, have an integrated memory controller (IMC) Core i7/i5 are the same. How happy your system is with that RAM at 2GHz will depend on whether the IMC can take the increased speeds above what it's rated to cope with. Because while running the RAM at 2GHz might not mean the RAM is running faster than rated, it will increase the strain on the IMC.
![]() It should be fairly simple - increase Vdimm, change the FSB/DRAM ratio so the RAM is running at 1GHz (2GHz DDR). If it isn't happy at that, post back and we'll try to pin down the issue.
