Default Mushkin Enhanced Blackline Help

Hello all,

I just received my new DDR3 Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 1600(PC3 12800) RAM. In the specs it says it runs at 7-7-6-18. But when I look at the specs via CPU-Z it says 669.7, FSBRAM 3:10, 9-9-9-24? So I guess I have to go in there(the BIOS) and start lowering the numbers?

I also want to play with the NB and boost it up a little so I guess when I play with the multi for that it will change RAM settings and I should set the RAM after I adjust the NB? (I also figured that this will change my CPU and OC it, or am I miss under standing what I read?

I know there is a guide or two out there and will look for them and read them again.

Thanks

IMO I would do one at a time and test for stability after every change. I would do the RAM last leaving it default or slower and loose timing so you know it isn't causing any stability issues when changing other settings.

Thanks Rick.

What program is good for testing memory?

Does memtest86 work with my hardware?

A lot of times, RAM won't run at it's specified settings. Sometimes a CMOS reset will help, but as for my RAM, I have to run a settings in the BIOS to "Overclock" the RAM to 1600 so that it's running at it's stock speeds.

If your timings aren't correct, then you should be able to easily set them at the stock timings and it will run fine. I think it's just a lot of BIOS' incorrectly set RAM to the proper settings.

OK I will try that. I have it underclocked right now but the automatic set up it has is 9-9-9-24, when at stock it should be 7-7-6-18. I will play around with it

I have the same problem with cpu-z using my Mushkin XP DDR3 1600 (same as black line but renamed) I used Everest to Identify that the timmings are correct. it says that my rams timmings by default are 9-9-9-24 and then it says that the oc profile settings is 7-76-18 and that is acurate. Alot of it is Bios related, Get the latest bios flash for your board and see if that corrects it. If not use Everest ultimate edition to identify if you have it set correct.
