Default Phenom I/II NB SPEED & MHZ and timings

of tight timings

http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/wi...ed_vs_NB_Speed

this link comes form a short few test that tony of ocz did and thought it would be nice to have here, for all that everyone is wondering.
cause I see lot of uneasy buyer out there.

1. the memory limit for phenom II is 1960mhz if your under cold and have luck

1800mhz is the real limit here comes from the architecture.

2. Nb speed is the secret weapon of Phenom's I/II, it's the L3 clock speed on the die.

3. NB when you increase it's speed you decrease it's latency.

4. some times it's best to have a certain % of core speed to Nb speed going above it may decrease performance (70% +/-3 is where most NB speed land from over clock.)

what dose that well that means if you have 3.7ghz core speed you should use a 2600mhz Nb

5. Nb can be set up twice as fast as memory speeds. so memory is above 50% or Nb speed +/-3%.
so if you have 1333mhz ram you set up your Nb to 2666mhz or 2700mhz.
which ever is easier.

6. check your frame rates on a game you link to play avg, max, and min.
as phenom here tend have high min fps.

Same thing applies. Upping the NB freq will increase the speed of the ram and L3 cache. I too noticed a sweet-spot. I was getting better scores in 3DMark06 with it set to 2000 vs 2200 even though the mem bench in Everest showed better speeds and latencies.

DDR2 has tighter timings then ddr3 Nb speed can be higher then to reduce latency.
Nb can be about 3 times fast then memory speed to 800mhz try 2400mhz.

also remember this HT (hyper transport) can not be higher/faster then Nb speed.

it can be equal to nb or lower.

I have worked closely with many top OCers. Your first statement is almost true. However Phenom II's usually max around 1880-1900MHz on cold.

The air/water limit of the IMC is around 1672MHz-1720MHz depending on your chip.

And yes, IMC(NB) clocking improves performance greatly. Most average Phenom II users don't know this.

I will be finishing a guide about overclocking ram and IMC over at techreaction.net soon. In the process.

great, that was highest I've seen SF3D post.
I hope bulldozers gets an updated IMC.

save zone 1333mhz-1600mhz.

I already posted this, but I guess you paraphrased it. Mods have failed to sticky it because they think memory dividers from socket AM2 (almost 4 years old) are more important.

well the tittle should Be K10/H10 core memory adjusting then.
it's works for all newer cores, however I can see why it says AM3 chips on it now. Though people have 920,940, 5000 x2 45nm which are AM2_ derivative need some other data then just DDR3 timings and speeds too.

Actually, once you convert it to milliseconds (The bit that actually matters), the latency is the same between DDR1, 2 and 3.
