Question Dual Channel?!?

Who runs Dual and who runs Single? Is there a significant performance gain in dual mode? I have 1 gig of PC3200 and actually run unstable during overclocking my XP 2500+ where as I have no stability issues in single mode.

I believe someone here told me that it's about a 15% performance gain running in dual channel.

[Edit] Maybe not, just found this: http://www.tcmagazine.info/articles....howarticle=128

I'm looking for some more comparisons.

you have to have a matching pair of sticks in order to run dual channel.

Exclamation Matched Pair?

I have an nforce 2 board that supports Dual Channel. I currently have a 512 stick of Infineon PC3200 and another 512 stick of some other budget RAM installed in Dual Channel mode. They are not a matched pair but it still shows Dual mode during POST and in CPU-Z. cOULD THEM NOT BEING A MATCHED PAIR CAUSE INSTABILITY BUT STILL RUN IN dUAL?

Only if one pair is running tighter than stock timings and can't...you could always just bump voltage up one and it should help...

well that picture on that one site is dumb as it suggests users to run the memory in the 1st and 2nd slots when to run in dual channel you must put the memory in the 1st and 3rd slots or in the 2nd and 4th slots.

pairs of the same ram will always run better together then with 2 different brands running at the same speeds.

During one of my testings, I found out that 512mb Dual Channel beat 1GB Single Channel during benchmarks. Impressive huh?
