i have a gig of pc3200 in 2 of the slots right now.

i also have 512 of pc2700 lying around. i heard that if i put it in the other slots they will run on their own seperate frequencies in their slots

the reason i'm doing this is because i am using integrated 6100 right now (its better than the 5500 till i can get a new one) and its taking 256 of my ram...gayness

so is this possible? or would they just clock down to pc333

dammit...... and its the ram that came out of the hp...

would i benifit from it running at lower frequencies but more, or having less at higher speeds?

I have tried this before and it was actually slower when I mixed a stick of pc2700 with my gig of 3200.

doesnt sck 939 have to run in dual channel anyway ?

which could mean you computer wouldnt even boot if you put that extra ram in

yeah i have 4 slots, the 2 that are in there are in dual channel. i have 2x256 so 512 of the pc2700 that i'd like to put in.

i know it doesnt matter about same brand or anything because mine is mixed lol

EDIT: and the timings would also change if you put in new ram......to the timings that the new ram can handle

yes. 2 of the sticks that are in there right now. if i add 2 MORE sticks, then it would all run in dual channel. 2 of the slots are purple and the other 2 are orange

The colors are just there so that you have the same kind of ram in the same colored slots for duel channel
