Default Increasing the PCI-E Bus Speed Causing Higher Performance

I just increased the PCI-E Bus Speed in the bios from 100 even to 125 and got a 67 high 3dmark06 score... Ive read before that if you increase this speed, it doesnt effect performance? This can't be right? Anyone have any experience with doing this?

If you bump it up too high, it'll break your graphics card, so be careful.

Stock PCIe is 100. I run at 118. It adds stability depending on the mobo it may be mandatory to even get a decent OC...

Check out this link. I posted about this before, with alot of arguement from other Overclock.net members, about system stability and "balance" of system buses. Here is the link, and if you have anymore questions about this, please ask as I have some extensive knowledge into this. My post is post #6. Thanx.

I would put it back to stock because it can wreck your harddrive. Happened to both my friend and I. If you want to take the gamble then go right ahead but I would advise against it.

I read your comments on the other thread, and I think you are exactly right. I have had several older or cheaper systems that I fooled around with for experimental purposess. On a recent test, I had a P4 system with a PCI-Express slot and was able to OC it to 126mhz which actually did allow for more FSB uppage. (around 10mhz). In any case, when I pushed it pass 126mhz, it DID NOT damage the video card, it just wouldn't boot. A CMOS reset corrected the situation and the computer is still working perfectly. It has a 7300gs video card as it is basically an office computer that we use for checking email and surfing the web. The PCI-E is still running at 126mhz.

Perhaps I am just lucky; by no means am I suggesting that this is what anyone should do. I am merely stating what I personally did.
