Default Flashing BIOS... again

OK on my parents computer I need to flash the bios so it'll recognize that it's a sempron cpu. it has a crappy ECS K7VTA3 mobo with v6.0 bios. it needs v7.0 or higher (8.0E is the newest) in order to recognize the sempron cpu. i got the 8.0E bios .bin file from the ECS website here. i read Evil XP2400's Winflash guide here.

K, so i ran the program and when i go to load the .bin file it says "please load correct bios file." i even tried v8.0D, v7.0E and none of the files load. anyone familiar with this problem? i checked in the Winflash help files and couldn't find anything. Thanks.

Just flash using AWDFLASH on boot... alot easier, and a higher success rate.

1. Make a DOS boot disk (This can be done when you format a floppy disk from windows)
2. Download this and put it on the floppy along with your BIOS file.
3. Restart your computer and boot from floppy disk.
4. Type awdflash biosname.bin at the A:\> prompt

make sure "bios-write protection" or something like that is turned off in your bios. I had a similar problem.

it still didn't work. it said something about not being the right part number. i guess i'll have to double check the board and make sure i got the right bios... or contact ecs.

like i told you before man, those damn ECS boards are trouble when it comes to model numbers. I think your best bet is too download lavalys everest home edition, get the motherboard info there and then shoot ECS an e-mail telling them about your issues and ask them to e-mail you the right bios.

yeah no $heet. i hate ecs, but i guess i can't complain about the price though ($79 for both the sempron 2600+ and mobo). at fry's it's pretty much like "buy a cpu and get a $hitty ecs mobo for free."
