Yes sir, any Socket A Semperon will work fine in there, at the worst you'll need a BIOS flash.

However, for the best socket A bang-for-your-buck, I'd go with a Athlon XP Barton core. Great little CPUs, and they have 512kb of L2 instead of the 256kb of most Semperons.

Socket A. I can find Semprons for under $100 but XP are still over $100.

Agreed. eBay is your best friend for older CPUs.

i wouldnt reconmend intel to anyone, if you want my opinion, the price difference between a sempron and a athlonxp isnt that much, i paid £80 a year or so back for the CPU, which is around $150 i am using it today, never had problems with the CPU itself, and i would most definatly reconmend them to people. what can i say its a lovely chip, if it could support SLI, that would kick a$$ but, thats the downside, good side, cheap, effective, outgoing, fast really if you think about it. i have linux on my machine and this baby boots up linux nicely.
