Default Fastest processor to suit Motherboard ???
Hi Guys,

Sorry Duke, not used to the site.

What is the fastest CPU I can install on my system, considering an ASRock K7VT4A Pro 1.0x MB, -- present Bus Clock 134mhz, -- Bios, American Megatrends Inc.P1.10, -- Memory is 512MB.

Presently CPU is AMD Sempron 1600+, (as I bought it) but progs.'Belarc Advisor' and 'CPU Clock Utility' has it as an AMD Athlon XP running at 1.4ghz.

I know it doesn't compare with you guys supercomputers, but I want it best I can achieve.

Can I get it to run any faster, or am I better installing a faster CPU, if the MB will stand it.?????

Im not so sure? The FSB is 133? the 3000+ Xps were 333mhz i think... correct me?

The board goes up to 333mhz fsb (166mhz actual speed). http://www.asrock.com/Product/K7VT4A%20PRO.htm

Right now it is running 266mhz fsb (133mhz actual speed).

The fsb would be 2 x 133 making it a 266 but the cpu at 333 (166x2) will work fine just underclocked

AMD utilizes the ability to send data up and down stream at the same time, thus dubble the base speed.
