Default Mounting hsf

Just got the new board and proccessor (skt 939 athlon 64 3000+) and a slight problem the hsf mounting bracket thingy isn't on the board(but not missing) and just wondered if there was supposed to be a backplate for the retention bracket? Also what screws to us

Im not quite sure I understand what your talking about but do you mean the black plastic bracket? That screws into the mobo around the processor. Does this help at all?

If your eliminating the "Top" part, the bottom, if I recall correctly, uses 6-32 screws.

Sorry if i wasnt clear i have the top part of the bracket but there appears top be no bottom bit. Should i just buy a new bracket.
