New to Overclock.net
|
I have an ASUS A7V8XX mobo w/ AMD 2600+ processor w/ 1gb pc3200 ram, 160 gb W/D HDD, Geforce FX5200 Ultra video card. My question is can I overclock this mobo and if so where can I go to to find out how to go about it? I built the computer myself but I've never done any overclocking though. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Going Broke Overclocking
![]() |
Some back ground on the MB.
It uses the VIA KT400 chipset which has certain limitations. The KT400, un like the NF2 chipset, can not "lock" the AGP and PCI bus speeds. Due to that as you up the CPU's FSB the PCI/AGP buses also increase and if it gets to excessive will cause instability. Our FAQ section is undergoing a major transfer and temporaraly a bit of a can of worms There are some How To faqs on OCing basics. Some good one to read Some basics... http://www.overclock.net/new-members...clocking+guide More on the "Lock" http://www.overclock.net/faqs/117377...clocking+guide A very good guide... http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...clocking+guide Also, by using the "USER CP" at the top of the page you can link to "System Specs", filling them can be very useful for the members to refer to you system when giving advice.
