can the Emachines (before it was bought by gateway) be overclocked?
the one i want to oc has an xp 2400+

i dont think any prebiult machines can be overclocked. Ehh.....before gateway buys it? i think emachines company would lock it.

yeah, 98% chance its locked, and the other 2 u might be able to OC a little with software, but dont count on it

thx. i checked bios... it's locked. i was gonna oc my 2000+ in it and swipe it for the 2400+, cause my dad doesn't want anything faster than 2.0GHz.

My emachines 2200xp was locked (then fried, lol) but what about cpufsb, it worked for the Msi board I am on now and I don't see why it wouldnt work for you. Though I'm by no means an expert. I got a modest 6% increase but every little bit helps
