Question VGA cable and ASUS A8V

I just got my computer today but sadly i cant hook it up because the VGA port on my mobo is male and the end of my monitor cable is also male. Is this common? what is the deal?

thats not a VGA port thats a com port im pretty sure.

I think your trying to hook up the wrong cable but i cant say for sure ive never heard of that before.

do u have a seperate video card cause i dont think that board has onboard video.

yeah your right mu asus guide says that it is a 9-PIN COM1 port. Is this the port were my monitor is suposed to hook up too? And my DCLCD manual says that the cable is a VGA cable.

nope there use to be used for mice and such dont really see a purpose for them now......I'm sorry to say this but to use that mobo ur going to need to by a VGA video card.tell us what u plan to do with ur comp and a budget and we may be able to help u make a good choice in purcahsing a vid card

The motherboard doesn't have onboard video, you need a seperate add-in card

well i really do enjoy your guys help but i am not sure what card i am going to get. i have been looking at the MSI 6600GT for a long time. I will play some games on my computer and i need a card so do you think this is a good card for the buy or would you recommand a cheaper one that is also good. thanks everbody
