Default Changing IRQs

My USB and Network controller share the same IRQ (22) and I'd like to change that since I'm having trouble with my connection, and I want to eliminate possible problem causes. So how do I change IRQs? And does it matter what number they are? (Like could I just change my USB to IRQ 23?)

Usually 2 things can share an IRQ, make sure in Windows Hardware Manager that there are no 'conflicts' according to Windows. If windows doesnt see an IRQ conflict there usually isnt one.

You should be able to free up some IRQs by going into your bios and disabling things you dont use.. like if you dont have a SATA drive disable it, same goes for onboard sound and stuff like that. firewire... Modems... Cant think of anything else

You go into device manager and into the properties of whaver it is and if you can, it'll let you change IRQ's. I havent had any success though so maybe the BIOS thing is the way to go (assign PCI slots to certain IRQs). 2 things sharing an IRQ shouldnt be a problem though as some can handle 3 or 4 actual cards and heavy use things without being a problem

You cant change IRQs from Device manger in XP but if the controller is PCI then all you need to do is switch the slot that it is in. I would only worry about doing this though if windows has detected a conflict. If not then I doubt IRQ is your problem.
