AMD Overclocker
|
I upgraded to vista then soon found out I needed to go from 1 GIG to 2 GIGS of ram. OS i went and I got another 2x512 of the Kingston Hyper X DDR400 I had. The first problem is the speed defaulted to 133 instead of 200 so I bumped it up to 200MHZ, everything was peachy. I knew I would loose my 1X Command rate and all, but for some reason I cannot over clock it with the 4 sticks of ram installed. The board will post then begin to load windows, but then as soon as it starts to load at the logo screen I get a BSOD with a memory dump. Anyone have any ideas?

Your best would probably be 2x1GB sticks of memory. Ive heard of people with similar problems when using 4 RAM slots on some AMD CPUs.

More machine now than man

As always, test and benchmark for best possible results! I know these proposed solutions aren't too "sexy," or sound like big compromises. That's just the way it is if you fill all four DIMM slots. Hope that helps!

According to svtmook, it appears that it should work, but I've seen for other mobos (not sure if yours is included) but filling up all 4 RAM slots will force the memory controller to run the RAM at DDR333 in addition to 1T. This all goes back to AMD's MCT preferring to run 2 sticks rather than 4 sticks of RAM. I'm sure this is not preferrable, but if you can get 2x1gig sticks, that should definitely solve your problem.
