Biostar Tforce 550
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138026 I have just one really simple question. WILL this run a 65nm chip? (The 3600+ Brisbane in this instance). If not, what is a good CHEAP mobo that will run it and overclock it to 2.4ghz?

Pros: I loaded up Bioshock and maxed out the settings, but this graphics slit the game's throat then ate it's entrails for dessert. It slammed Assassin's Creed's head onto the curb then stomped its head into that curb until it was nothing but a bloody pulp. This card is one bad mo-fo. It'll backhand your sister and degrade your mom, but they will still love it and want to date it because it is just that good. I love this card so much that I burned my tongue trying to french kiss it, and I still keep trying.

Yes it should run it fine, but don't know the BIOS of the board so couldn't tell you about the overclocking.

The 550 will run the brisbane. Newegg was selling them in a combo for awhile and quite a few peeps here have it.

I got both versions of the board and with the latest bios it works great...you'll love it...very good clocker for the price...
jusr make sure you pick ram that gives you headroom to work..like ddr800 at 2.0v I got Patriot ddr800 LLK's and they are default 2.2v And I dont get very far without a divider...the board only goes to 2.1v in the bios... ![]()

Yeah it'll work perfectly, probably 30 OCN members use that CPU/MOBO combo as it's great performance for cheap

Hmm. Is the stock ocing on the Brisbane worth going down to it from a 2.4ghz Windsor? I mean, will I get it to operate safely and cool on stock cooler on par with a 2.4ghz windsor?

the Brisbane will out clock the Windsor hands down...they run cooler and less volts and higher clocks...win/win for you...

If you're looking for highest OC, they both will pretty much hit high 2ghz or right at around 3ghz, with the Brisbane maybe getting a slightly better OC. AMD's silicon is hitting the wall at around 3ghz so the manufacturing process isn't going to help a ton. However, the Brisbane might hit it at a slightly lower vcore.
__________________As for that mobo, you'll be able to put Brisbanes in there definitely. The Tforce mobos are great OCing boards and they are not too bad on the wallet. I've built a machine with a Tforce board and OCing was very smooth with that board. You should be able to do at least 280mhz FSB with that board if not better giving you at least 2.6ghz, provided you have adequate cooling and the right components.

It won't do 300mhz FSB? I'm considering going for one myself, but I'd like it to hit at least 2.7GHz (what I'm running now), and preferably 311/312 so I can finally hit 2.8GHz. What are my odds of achieving this goal with this board/cpu combo?
Or should I just say screw it and wait for the new AMD dual cores that are coming in a few weeks?

most all Brisbane CPU's will hit 3G's with the right ram and cooling...ram is the key...you need low volt ram ddr-800 @ 2.0v as the board only goes to 2.1v
or you need ram you know will run at 2.4v so you can use the jumper...
