Well kinda like my question says, Iam using this aopen board in my sig and I had it at 3.75ghz that was the max it was stable with and I left it on over night, I noticed that the board will actually clock itself lower back to 3.4 ghz now I cant overclock it at all, my FSB was 220 and it will not boot at that now, It wont even boot at 210 FSB, Now I did upgrade the bios but It was still overclocking just fine, it just started to do this recently, Iam really getting pissed and plan to ditch this and buy a core 2 or brisbane.

Hmm, not really. Not by that much anyway. Capacitors age causing more load on the PSU and could affect things, but only after like a few years. Ditch it and get the C2D, like you said

It's should actually overclock better over time as transistor gets burnt in!
Maybe it's a glitch in the bios or just a simple restore setting setting! Also...maybe it's your cmos battery

I've found that its much more difficult, and requires many more volts to get to the overclock I had stable for much of last year.
I believe Cyber Druid has had experience with these circumstances as well.

Q: - Does motherboard lose overclocking over time?
As a matter of opinion... yes, I believe as the components age towards the end of their service life (for some capacitors only 5000 hrs.) the motherboard will begin to suffer fatigue and or OC stability symptoms, CPU's are no exception to the rule either losing up to 10% of their longevity due to overclocking Being the tight fisted git that I am, I prefer not to OC and get the maximum life outta' my gear!
