Default s939 mobo

Hey there everyone.

Well, I'm waiting to upgrade everything for another year :-X, so for now I am going to get a new s939 mobo.

Above all, it needs to overclock well. This POS gets my fsp up to 239 and it won't post.

I was looking at DFI lan party, but I don't know which one, and I also want to keep it cheap.

Thanks,
f4t4l1ty

Either a Lan-Party or I have seen some A8N32-SLIs going cheap . . . Lan-PARTY WOULD BE YOUR BEST BET FOR ocing though IMO

I'd go with the DFI

you'd get easier access to higher RAM and CPU voltages as opposed to an ASUS A8N series. The A8N's tend to limit at 1.55 Vcore and unless you do a little v mod-work (which i don't know if it's possible) to get more than that. Similarly with the VDIMM, there's a top-out level (can't remember where) that's often a hair below the sweet spot for BH-5's (or so I hear, i have sticks w/ Promos chips -_-)

Next question..

Where could I get one? Newegg doesn't seem to have them anymore. I'll keep looking.

ya, i hear a lot of people enjoyed their Ultra-D's. If i remember correctly you can even mod it to an SLI w/ some patience.

but i'm no DFI expert so i'll defer the recommendations to others XD

Yeah I heard about that too. :-D

I've always wanted one, and I'm trying to keep my budget really low. Might as well overclock this 3000+ until I can afford a dual core or FX socket 939. I'll stay 939 for a little longer.

Cheapest I could find it. Does anyone know if this place is reliable?

Edit: Whoops. Sry for the double post.

Edit2: Whoops x2. They don't carry the LanParty anymore. Ugh.

Depends on what you want... filters down the list:

You don't want to overclock:
Go back to ECS motherboards and prebuilts.

You want great overclocking:
- Ultra-D
- SLi-D (SLi-capable)
- SLi-DR (SLi-capable)
- SLi-DR Expert
- SLi-DR Venus
- RDX-200
- CFX-3200

You want multi GPU:
SLi:
Ultra-D is moddable to SLi-D

- SLi-D
- SLi-DR
- SLi-DR Expert
- SLi-DR Venus

Crossfire
- RDX-200
- CFX-3200

You want lots of harddrives (4+):
- SLi-DR
- SLi-DR Expert
- SLi-DR Venus

You have high speed RAM (such as TCCD) and voltages you want to fine tune:
- SLi-DR Expert
- SLi-DR Venus

You want the most stable board of them all:
- SLi-DR Venus (only 1000 samples made!)

You want to hit 4.2 GHz on your processor:
- Sorry, but that's impossible
