A relative voltage may be causing the issue. Are you sure you have adequate settings to support the speeds your attempting?

I am running the ram at 2.3 the cpu at 1.4875 and the 1.4 on the htt link. I think those are adequate. Should they be more?

The CPU may be a bit more hungry, you have good cooling so you should be able to work it up a bit more if necessary. Mid 50c full load reminder!
Then...
Try upping the HT voltage.
Then try the NB and SB voltage.
Then try all to see if you can find a cure.
I prefer to only increase what is only needed. Excessive unneeded voltage is just that, unneeded

Also, are the NB<>SB and SB<>NB set the same? And the NB<>SB and CPU<>SB at 16?

prety much all the system voltages are at 1.4 and I think one of them is at 1.6 and yes the link speeds are both set at 16x both ways. How high can I go on the NB and SB voltages while keeping it safe?

"Also, are the NB<>SB and SB<>NB set the same?" ie the multipliers.
The provided voltages should not cause issues. Try a small bump, see if you attain stability. Time and effort, its a pain but with out it who knows where the issue is for sure?!?
So goes the trial and error process

Ok I tried up'ing the voltages to 1.45 for the htt link and the nb core and 1.65 for the sb core. I also set the cpu to 1.525 trying 280x9 it wouldn't post when I got back into bios it was reading 3920 for the cpu speed telling me it was still trying to use a 14x multi for the cpu.

I'm sorry, I don't get whats causing this darn 14x issue, rather strange indeed!
A thought, try a 1.5-1.55v on the CPU, the FX may be more voltage hungry than we expect. Give it a shot, you have the cooling to handle it.

The duke I really appreciate all your thought and help with this.. but upping the voltage didn't help either. I wonder if I just have a funny CPU? Maybe I should upgrade to a 65nm black edition CPU and try that.

Check you stepping at amdgeeks.com, you may have a lame one. But I highly doubt it is the cause of your very low overall CPU bus speed!

Try leaving the NB-SB @5x and the same for the SB-NB
Drop the NB to SB HT speed to 200MHz
Drop the CPU-HT to 3 or 4 accordingly to keep in the 12-1300ish range.
Bump up the Chip set voltage.

BTW, that was acquired from... but with my recommendation for a higher overall HT
xdaseins has the experience listen to him

You should hard set that frequency to 200Mhz and keep the nb/sb multis at 5x, and ONLY change the ht multi to 4 for example if you push the fsb close to and past 250Mhz or 3 when you approach 300Mhz fsb. Also increasing nb and sb voltages will give you stability when you approach your chips limit.

Will try that alittle later about to head out for alittle now, but could there possible be a short causing this. I have read so many times online about people having weird issue with this board due to it shorting out to he case. Maybe I have a short? not sure what would be causing it though as I do have the little red rings around each case screw, and I did paint the inside of my 900 black so maybe that is causing it who knows... I sure don't lol.
