Default Trouble Oc'ing an asus crosshair.

Right now I am having an issue upping my FSB on my asus crosshair( my Sig Rig). I can get to about 260FSB, but then it reverts to a 14 multi despite what multi I set. Right now I have it at 230 x14, which is ok, but I want to maybe get 280x10, or if I got a really good chip 300x10.
I am pretty sure it is my CPU limiting my OC, but I am wondering if there is an problemw ith these boards getting high FSB, even though it is supposed to do up to 650 MHZ on the FSB. I also want to get some opinions on the higher FSB on this MB, the best 3d Mark score I have gotten was with 250x12 w/ the ram at 1000MHZ.
Any thoughts, help, advice, or general expereience with this would be awsome.

Have you adjusted the HT (or LDT) to maintain a sub 1400MHz speed?

The Crosshair was reviewed to have the highest CPU bus speed, so there must be something being a a pain here!
Have you tried some RAM sub timing tweaks on the TRC with 23, 24 or 26 and the TRFC @ 105 or 127.5?

I left all the ram to auto, but lowered the speed to 400 ( I have 400, 533,667,800 to choose from) I would so agree Duke something is being a pain.

Try 667 and up the voltage to 2.3.
Some RAM gets picky when excessively under clocked.
Do try a 127.5 TRFC and a TRC of 26 relative to my previous post.

A recent development, some Ballistix don't have D9s. If thats the case you would likely know by now because 2v+ on the Elpida ICs will not likely work. They seem to like 1.95v and 2v for some but not more.
That Crosshair BIOS is very deep and full of tons of options, a very challenging BIOS to work indeed.
Hope we can find out what is screwing with you!

When it don't post, what error do you get from the rear diagnostic LED display?

Curious what are the NB-> SB and SB-> NB speed multiplier set to?

I think if we find out what is causing my bios to use 14X then we can fix the problem. Even though it is set to 9x 10 x or whatever sometimes I guess if the frequency gets too high it uses 14x despite what is it in the bios. I know this because when it fails due to over clocking it shows me on the screen where it tells me that it failed what settings for the CPU it uses which is usually whatever the FSB is (EX: 280) by 14X. for something like 3920MHZ for example.
