If it is really mATX, then it would fit. mATX is a standard form factor.
Check page 10: http://www.formfactors.org/developer...matxspe1.2.pdf The HD and DVD will definitely work though since they are standardized as well.

hard drives and dvd drives will work fine. as long as the case is truly a matx case, you should be able to find a few remaining 939 matx boards.
here are the results of a quick search over at newegg... 939-matx mobos make sure the case is actually matx though. emachines put out some crazy stuff (as have the other oems) that was ofter proprietory. also, make sure the psu is powerful enough. often they used tine (250-300watt) power supplies. personally, i would suggest a new case and psu to go with his new mobo. then you arent limited to matx (not that they are bad)

EDIT: LOL well nevermiind looks that was covered....
__________________Should fit. The hard drive should work as well last eMachines I had open had a regular old WD Caviar 80G IDE in it. If I remember correctly it was used in a 939 X2/Asus rig (was a long time ago but my point is it worked in another rig). As to DVD drive it probably will work as well may have to update the firmware but shouldn't be an issue. The thing that would worry me most is the PSU some of these are proprietary (I know for a fact some Dells had oddly configured power supplies).
