Hi all, I am new to computer. So please be patient and help me out.
__________________THE PROBLEM: My friend's old Emachine has refuse to boot, post, and no video images shown when I turn the computer on. I have try to swap in a new video card and hard drive and it still refuse to show any "video images or the start up screen" when i press the power button. Therefore I have come to a conclusion that the Motherboard has malfunction. THE QUESTION: Can you guys give suggestion on a new mother board that would accomodate all of current Emachines's setup? The EMachine model is T2260: more spec is provided from this link below. http://www.e4me.com/support/product_...es&model=T2260

More Machine Now Than Man

Questions: 1) Does the system have a case speaker that beeps on bootup? 2) If it does, what beeps does it give? 3) It's possible the boot failures are from the RAM not being seated properly. Reseat the RAM. 4) It's also possible that one of the power connectors has been disconnected. Inspect all of the power connectors from the PSU and confirm that everything that needs power is getting it.

3) ram is in properly seated in place 4) all power connector are connected to all my optical drives, motherboard, hardrive and graphic card. I also went to my friend's place and he also confirm that everything is connected properly. He even swap in a new hardrive with preinstalled OS. There fore Im sure that something is wrong with the motherboard. I hope that it's not the CPU, because replacing it is expansive.

i would try unplugging anything that is not esential.
Try hooking up the PSU to only the motherboard, with the video card and ram installed. You do not need a hdd connected to test if the motherboard post's. Also, if there is an onboard video option use that and not a video card... If there is a little watch battery, go ahead and carefully remove it and hold down the power button for a good 20 seconds. This drains all the capacitors on the motherboard. Giving it the best chance the "reset" to the default settings. Also look for capacitors that have "popped" look at the top of all of them and see if any of the tops have raised up beyond being flat... If anything is leaking, or coming out of them then thats bad... Look for a goopy blackish liquid that may have been spread on the motherboard...

Do you think Gateway purchased and subsequently made gobs of money for a company that offered crap PCs? In answer too your question I imagine (depending on the model) that the eMachines in question has a propiatary PSU so swapping motherboards may not be that simple.

Going Broke Overclocking

1. I too would say look at the PS. Swap in one from another PC if possible.
2. CPU, well, expensive, not always true. There is still a 2000+ but there has been socket A CPUs on the cheep in the For Sale section. http://www.overclock.net/sale/254992...462-mobos.html 3. If you do need a MB, that is where the pain comes in. mATX Socket A MBs are getting harder to find and will likely only be found on ebay. But, I may have one available very soon and on the cheep
