Default AMD AM2+ 780G/790GX mATX Motherboard Lookout

Hey folks, these are promising to be very fast, powerful, mATX motherboards. One of which I'm hoping will provide the foundation for the HTPC which is in my sig now. If you see one come up for sale stateside let me know!

Update on page 2: AMD to launch newer 790GX chipset too. Designed for mATX motherboards, the chipset's IGP will be a faster step-up from the IGP of the 780G based motherboards.

Update 2/19/08: Sighted in the wild.

Your post has sparked my intrest. So I went looking around to see exactly what you were talking about. Found some lay outs of the M3A78-EMH HDMI board I presume you speak of. Seems to be a lot of word of mouth. Asus has a manual posted on the site but it doesn't want to load for me. i'll post the link, maybe it will work for you.

and I found the link to the asus manual on this site, 4th paragraph down:
http://www.fudzilla.com/index.php?op...5093&Itemid=37

Also found the layout for M3A78-EMH HDMI. I attacheded it below.

But to no avial, none for sale.

Looks like they were "supposed" to ship this month, we haven't seen anything yet, so I'm hoping I won't have to wait too long. My tax money will be back the 8th, and it'd be a shame to not have it spent before I get it in my hand.

I hope it turns out better than the 690V mATX which was a big POS in my opinion with too many sound issues to be a contender for any HTPC...

it's one thing when Intel puts the smack down on AMD but it's another when nVidia does it too...

Agreed!
The AMD chip sets run very cool and amazingly low temps but I still yearn for an nForce AM2+.

I guess you could say the AMD chip sets are slow and low! Slow to boot and low temp

actually my 690 chipset ran hotter than the chipset on the 7050 I have....I'll have to test the new board to see where they are...but the nv chipset is running 21c with the AMD 690 was running 26c

I know you were running identical cooling on them as well, right?

Anyway, I need more info on this! The Asus 780G board looks Phenominal [/pun]

yes they were/are both passive...loading a new 690 board as we speak so time will tell after i punish this board to see if it's as big as POS as the 1st one....I'll bet it is...and if it is...I am going to shy away from AMD chipsets for a good long while....
