Have you tried manually setting the HDD in the BIOS. Go to SATA/IDE setup and set the settings manually instead of auto. If that doesn't work you may be out of luck .

^Been done, bud. Ive forced it to stare at my SATA Channel 1 (The one with my Primary disk), to no avail.

So, now lets think. Does this mean that my Hard Drives are bad? Or that my Mobo is bad?

Note that I cant even SEE my HDDs.

Are corrupt/damaged hard drives recognized in the BIOS?

Whats the chances of 4 HHD's being borked though. I would put the most likely blame on the motherboard - maybe some detatched molex current got through it somehow. Have you tried a diffeent power plug for the HDD's or even a different PSU. The only way to definately rule out the mobo would be to try the HDD's in another PC.

It depends on the type of failure. Sometimes they do, sometimes they totally die and aren't seen at all.

Yeah I didn't even think of that, I second the idea of trying different power plugs from the PSU!

By the way, I know its useless for you now, but you may want to consider picking up a USB->SATA/IDE adapter. Just for times like this.

Well, my 2 cents, your motherboard isn't fried, if it were, I doubt it would boot. And "all the shorting" I'm almost positive that it would short the first time around.

did you check to see if your bios was set to cdrom for the 1st boot device and are you positive the OS disk you received is a bootable cd?

also did you verify that the drives have the proper jumper setting etc? seems odd only the hdd wouldnt be detected whereas the cd drives are
