Sounds a lot like a bios issue or cpu issue. Try reflashing the bios to the latest stable (non-beta) version. If that doesnt work, I would have suggested reseating the cpu, but since it does actually work I dont think its really gonna do anything. Its weird that you ahve to change it from Auto to 11x, that kinda sorta tells me that there is an issue either with the cpu, or getting enough power to POST the cpu. perhaps the bios thinks that its a failed overclock and fails to post. Trying out a different PSU might be a good idea.

Talking about overheating, it's been running 40C+ for a while now. And thats at stock speeds.

Next time you boot, don't just save changes and exit, SAVE them in the CMOS section of the bios. I'd also think you need to boost up the VID voltage. I run a 3700 now for 2.5 yrs at 1.54vc (110%) without issue.
__________________Take a good look at the Northbridge temps. If they are 45C or higher, they need cooling. My bet is the cpu is getting old, might require additional juice.

40c isnt too bad for a cpu of its age, but that also depends on your cooling, ambient temps etc.
__________________My 5600+ (when I had it) idled about there when ambient temps were 27ish Celcius.

My 3700 Sandy runs 31-34C with a Big Typhoon and good case venting.
__________________40C isn't bad with a midrange heatsink. I'd check the Northbridge temps and the chipset voltages.

Not sure if this will help, but I changed out the motherboard battery for a new one and the issues I had on my Expert stopped. I fiddled with the OC for 3 hours and the entire time ran rock solid. No error lights or beeps.

Been thinking: Odds are good that the previous cpu was a dual core Opteron with an updated bios. A bios flash could help, but wait. First run Memtest86 on the ram (built in bios function). When resetting CMOS, ram timings & voltages may be defaulting back to stock. Check the bios to the ram specs. Also, check what bios version you have.
__________________The psu is also underpowered for that mobo but may still work. The Ultra-D should have a strong 12v rail and 500watts to serve you better. My guess is still a bios setting/s or poor cooling on the northbridge

whoops, I didn't see you replaced the battery.
Lenzo is correct, that PSU is a bit low for that Mobo.

Guys, I don't think his PSU is under powered. When I initially received my SLI-DR, I did all of my stress testing on a Fortron 300watt. He has plenty of power. His rig at full load probably doesn't even top at 200watts....but of course you never know. It wouldn't hurt to test with a different PSU just to be sure. Also high temperatures still don't explain why he's getting CMOS errors.
Darken, what BIOS version are you running currently? Sorry if this was already mentioned. The latest BIOS for your model motherboard has quite a few fixes, check it out: http://www.dfi.com.tw/Support/Downlo...FLAG=A&SITE=US. Good luck ![]()

Ok. I have this psu
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817154019 And the chipset temps are pretty high. 50c+ Testing the equiptment would pretty hard because I don't have any spare parts to test it with ![]()
